Forensic Engineering

Mathers Engineering is a licensed professional engineering firm with extensive expertise in forensic engineering investigations. We have the experience and expertise to tackle your most difficult issues along with the flexibility to address small and simple issues as well.

Over the years, Mathers Engineering and personnel have investigated everything from bridges to buildings - and some in between. Just when we think we have seen it all, we find something new. What our vast experience of investigations has shown us is that it comes down to standard procedures.

For example, in our forensic structural investigation reports we follow a standard protocol based on SEI/ASCE 11-99, Guideline for Condition Assessment of Existing Buildings. Utilizing the standard, we use the best practices available for our investigations and are able to reference our investigation methodology to industry best practices.

Furthermore, all instances of forensic structural analysis or comparison are done to access required Code minimums. We strive to keep the focus on what was required of the structure - not to get lost in an argument on computer modeling and methodology.

Sometimes a property owner finds out the addition to their property was done without a permit. Now they have been notified by the local Building Department that they need to have the structure inspected and certified by an Engineer.

In many cases the additions are small and have been built per standard industry practices. If so, Mathers Engineering is generally able to submit a certified letter to the Building Department which removes the violation. In rare cases were we cannot certify the structure, we may be able to direct you to the corrective actions required.

"Engineer Letters" are a service that we can provide quickly and at reasonable rates to residents and businesses in Central Florida and Southeast Florida.
